There's been quite a backlash against my feminism poll. I'm delighted
that my mom joined me in the hardcore liberal feminist camp. But, based
on private responses from many of you, far too many people are just not
willing to call themselves feminists and I see this as a big problem.

First, there's mass misconception about the whole concept of Labels.
Labels are necessary and highly useful. People need something to identify
with and rally around. There can't be a feminist movement without the
label "feminism"!

How bout a new poll: Do think the Equal Rights Amendment [1] should be
ratified? reply (simple yes or no is fine) to me privately and I'll
compile the results.

Withhold not correction from the child;
For though thou beat him with the rod, he will not die.
Thou beatest him with the rod,
And wilt deliver his soul from the nether-world.
