Websites containing detailed reference information for MtF transitioners:

Andrea James' "TS Roadmap":

Andrea James has compiled a detailed "TS Roadmap to Transition" that can greatly help in planning the many complex details and logistics of a gender transition. There's lots of information in her site about electrolysis, facial surgery, SRS, and the things that affect appearance and passing for transgender and transsexual transitioners. Her site also supplies invaluable information about the many practical and personal aspects of transition - everything from insuring internet security regarding one's identity during transition to building self-esteem and confidence in the process. As a result, Andrea's website has become the veritable "bible of MtF transition".

Becky Allison's website:

Becky Allison, M. D. is a cardiologist. She maintains a wonderful site that documents her own journey and contains lots of insights and information of great value to those in transition. See in particular Becky's "Friends and Family Issues" page, her detailed listing of gender therapists, and her state-by-state information about changing Birth Certificates.

Calpernia Addams website and information exchange forum:

Calpernia Addams is a well-known trans woman who has created a special Information Exchange Forum (more) that provides an open, informative and friendly environment where many (mostly young) transitioners can share experiences and learn from each other.   This members-only Forum is a moderated one, where oversight and good judgment insure that participants interact fairly, honestly and respectfully with each other.  (It thus stands in great contrast to most of the earlier un-moderated trans-support e-lists, which in recent years have deteriorated into mean-spirited, hurtful places that transitioners would best avoid).

A. A. Lawrence's webpages:

A. A. Lawrence, M.D., is a self-professed sexual paraphilic and close colleague of notorious psychologists Blanchard and Bailey.  Experiencing intense transvestic fetishism, Lawrence underwent SRS for autosexual reasons.  Extrapolating from this experience, Lawrence denies the existence of gendered identities, declaring that most transsexualism is instead a sex-fueled mental illness. During 2000-2003, Blanchard, Bailey and Lawrence tormented the trans community with mass allegations of mental pathology, until investigations and exposés brought them to a halt.  In spite of all this, Lawrence's website contains extensive information about hormone therapy (more) and vaginoplasty (SRS) surgery that has proven useful to transsexual transitioners.

Melanie Anne Phillips website:

Melanie Anne Phillips created one of the original important TS transition support sites. Her site contains lots of valuable information and resources about all aspects of transition, including in-depth information about retraining of the voice.

Web resources for young transitioners and their families:

Mom, I Need to be a Girl:

This is the heartwarming story of Danielle, written by her mother Evelyn. It is the story of a teenager's successful transition with her mother's full support and active help. This book is highly recommended reading for all young trans teens. It is especially valuable for helping to explain gender dysphoria, transsexualism and gender transition to parents, family members and friends.  Lynn's website contains an on-line version of this wonderful book in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.

TransYouth Family Allies:
TransYouth Family Advocates is a coalition of parents, friends and caring adults dedicated to educating and raising public awareness about the challenges faced by children with gender variant and gender questioning identities and the families who love them.

Andrea James' webpage about transitioning while young:

This special page in Andrea James' website is a must read for any trans teens considering an early transition.

Gender Spectrum Education and Training / Gender Spectrum Family :

GenderPeace website:

This site contains a set of on-line discussion groups, providing an environment for mutual support among young transitioners.

Aunt Jenny's website:

A wonderful site for young TS's, created by a very caring woman who has helped many T-girls.

Children's National Medical Center:

The Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. maintains an outreach program for children with gender-variant behaviors and their families. Their website includes many links to resources, including a Parental Guide: An Educational Booklet, a Parental Electronic List-Serve, a Support Group, and other resources.

Finding Your Female Voice:

Andrea James has just produced an outstanding instructional video training course entitled "Finding Your Female Voice", which is available in VHS and DVD. This is now one of the best tools available for TG/TS transitioners who are serious about developing a natural-sounding female voice.

TS Voice website:

This website provides very practical methods and lots of useful information for MtF transsexuals on how to retrain their voices as women. Numerous exercises and examples of actual voices "in training" are included. The information here can help many women achieve good voices, even those who didn't think they could.
