The value of this variable is a search list used when an autoload is triggered. Autoloads are triggered when an action like calling an Allegro CL function whose functionality is not yet loaded into the system. The necessary fasl file is loaded (usually with require and usually from the bundle) and computation continues, for the most part invisibly to the user.
