default-background-color

Generic Function

Package: common-graphics

Arguments: object

Returns the default background color for object. This color will be used as the background color when the value of the background-color property is nil.

The built-in methods are specialized on the window class. Thus, for example, the default for dialog is returned by system-dialog-background-color and for basic-pane is returned by system-background-color.

Contrast with the built-in method for default-foreground-color, which is the value returned by system-foreground-color whatever the type of window.

Note: incompatible change in release 6.0: in releases prior to 6.0, when a frame-with-single-child instance was passed to this operator, the operator was actually applied to the child (the result of applying frame-child to the frame-with-single-child instance). In release 6.0, this redirection no longer occurs. If you intend this operator to apply to the frame-child, pass that to this operator rather than the parent. This is a non-backward-compatible-change. See the release notes for more information.
