Subject: Re: are you a feminist?
danny,just a quick clarification.....you say that you are a hard-core
radical feminist.  from what i know about feminism, you probably
aren't a radical feminist.  radical feminism emerged as a response to
liberal feminism, which tried to obtain equality between men and women
in job spheres, home spheres, etc.  it argues for a somewhat
separatist notion of female, almost essentializing women.  women are
inherently more compassionate, possess nurturing capacities distinct
from men, draw power from sisterhood and solidarity.  it implicitly
calls into question the need for men.  i would think of radical
feminists to be andrea dwarkin and catherine mckinnon (all sex is
rape, she argues).

Don't forget to hit submit on the whiteboard.  If you don't know what
that means, just read the poll at the link above and email me your
(ideally one-word) response.
Thanks y'all!Danny
