Ann Arbor has just started a car co-op:
http://www.a2c3.org

The website gives general information about the benefits of sharing a car.
I sent an email to get more information on how it actually works - see
below for the response. At $3 an hour it looks like a great deal - I
only wish they'd been around when I was looking for a car co-op two years
ago!

Karen,

The car share is up and running now. The car is parked about 1/8 mile
west of downtown, at 530 miller ave. We hope to have more cars in the
not-too-distant future, but that depends on how much interest we get.
Members can reserve the car online at a2c3.org, and then all you do is
show up, get the keys out of a lock box, and drive. At the end of
your trip, you return the car to the same location, fill out a short
(3 line) form, and put the keys and form back in the lock box.	We
reimburse for gas, and we pay for insurance. The only requirement is
that you have a valid driver's license with no points from speeding
tickets or accidents, and that you come to one of our meetings. It
costs $3/hour plus $.10 a mile to use the car, plus a one-time $100
registration fee to cover our overhead.

Meetings are held on the 2nd tuesday of each month at 530 Miller Ave
(Hei Wa co-op). If you'd like, I'll add you to our mailing list so
that you get a reminder next month. We've only got about 10 members,
and not all of them use the car very frequently, so we'd love to have
you along for the ride!

Thanks for the interest,
Patrick
