 More Signatures Needed on Smokefree U.S. Capitol Petition

**U.S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona released a report on June 27
declaring that there is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke and
that special ventilation or separation of smokers from nonsmokers is not
enough to protect public health; the only way to provide adequate protection
is to eliminate smoking altogether. Release of the report came as we pushed
to make the U.S. Capitol and congressional office buildings smokefree. 5,630
Lung Association Advocates have signed our Smokefree Capitol petition to
congressional leaders.	We need 10,000 signatures before we can send the
petition to Capitol Hill. *Click
