Size of Knowledge Base
There are physical limits to the size of the knowledge base that may
be supported by an individual agent; this is one measure of capacity at the
symbol level. However, in
addition to the physical limit on memory (just one example of the
environment's capability to provide only
limited resources),
there may be limitations imposed by the agent's
architecture and
style of control. For example,
Homer experiences a
processing slow-down
as its
episodic knowledge base increases in size.
