Reflexive Response to Stimuli
A general paradigm for behavior is Perceive-Think-Act. However,
in order to
react quickly to
dynamic environmental
events, some
architectures
respond instantly to external stimuli, a quality
often called reflexiveness. This may lend the system some extra speed
when the event has been experienced previously
(i.e., the reflex may be
learned as well as innate)
and the reaction can be
performed instantly without having to
plan a response.
Other systems always deliberate before acting.
