Uniform Knowledge Representation in Soar
All knowledge in Soar is stored in the form of
productions which represent the long-term
memory of the Soar system. This uniformity is not violated by the
addition of new knowledge since this added
knowledge also takes the form of productions. Similarly, the
learning mechanism creates new
knowledge in the form of productions as well. Thus, the representation
is uniform and unchanging. The inflexibility of the production
representation sometimes presents
a problem for some domains and applications.
