Chunking, Soar's architectural learning
mechanism, learns from experience. Because it is based on
goals, acts as a cache,
backtraces
dependencies to the
initial elements that resulted in resolving an
impasse, and
generalizes, it is directly
analagous to more general explanation-based learning techniques.
