Continuous Learning in Soar
Continuous Learning in Soar
Soar's
chunking mechanism is invoked
whenever an
impasse
is resolved, regardless of how many similar
situations have been encountered before, the
size of the knowledge base, or the
probable utility
of the learned knowledge. Thus, Soar learns continuously, as long
as the addition knowledge is indicated by the generation of
impasses. As learning progressing, the generation of impasses for
similar problems becomes less frequent, resulting in
movement from problematical to routine
search.
