Focus on the Cognitive Band
In the discussion on
agents with general
intelligence, the cognitive band was identified as the information
processing level immediately below the intendedly rational band.
The reasons for choosing to focus on the cognitive band included:
- a complete model of general intelligence requires a model of the cognitive
band;
- the functional requirements of the cognitive band can constrain
models of the neural and rational bands;
- abstraction to this level is necessary to build practical
intelligent systems; and
- the abundance of psychological data that could be used to define
processing levels within the cognitive band.
