Goal-Directed Behavior
Goal-Directed Behavior
As specified by two of Soar's
motivating hypotheses, goals direct
decision-making behavior in Soar and are generated automatically when
unambiguous decisions can not be made. The first of these is supported
by the goal-subgoal hierarchy in Soar, known as the context stack.
Secondly, impasses are caused by ambiguities in
preferences as determined by the
decision procedure, resulting
in the creation of subgoals. These two central ideas in Soar are
examined more fully as follows.
