Description

• Grows and refines domain knowledge through interaction with the external world
• Experimentation is triggered when domain knowledge that is critical to achieving a particular goal is lacking in situations where:
  • There is a divergence between internal expectations and external observations
  • Properties of unknown objects must be learned
  • Numerical threasholds must be learned
• PRODIGY attempts to perturb the environment minimally while making necessary observations
• PRODIGY must carefully plan the experimentation process so that all important effects are preserved
• PRODIGY must assimilate new information into its existing domain knowledge
