ICARUS Background
ICARUS was designed to act as an intelligent agent in a complex physical
environment. It is assumed that it will achieve its goals through
navigation between location and manipulation of objects. The developers
list several capabilities that an intelligent agent needs to be able
to perform these two activities.
- The ability to recognize physical objects, places and situations.
- The ability to generate plans to achieve goals
- The ability to detect situations that require a change in plans.
- The ability to aquire knowledge from experience and apply that knowledge
to new problems.
ICARUS is an attempt to directly address each of these capabilities.
