Utility in planning
For planning, utility functions can be used to indicate the best action in a given situation. One promising method to do this is employing probability theory in measuring value of random variables, which have a set of possible outcomes in each situation. Parameter consisting a utility function would be domain specific variables designed to represent the degree of importance of each parameter for attaining goals in the domain. Use of utility would significantly contribute to overall efficiency of performance by indicating which available operators to try first.
