Generality of Subsumption Architecture
Generality
of the Subsumption Architecture
The subsumption architecture
has limited generality over a variety of task domains
for
particular agents although more fully general for agents instantiated
with different behaviors. Brooks indicates that the
hormonal activation
system allows a reasonable integration of different low level
behaviors
(such as mobility versus survival). Mataric also adds that since the
individual agents are fine-tuned for the environments in which they operate,
the generality of any agent is a function of its intended environment.
