Cost of Subsumption Agents
Cost of Subsumption Agents
As was mentioned in the
methodological assumptions, one of the goals of the
designers of the subsumption architecture was to create agents that were cheap
enough to be disposable if they began malfunctioning. This assumption was very
important for some of the
complex and
unpredictable environments that have been
proposed for subsumption agents; an example is planetary exploration vehicles.
Thus,
subsumption agents are normally constructed from
very inexpensive hardware rather than high-end sophisticated workstations like many
other architectures.
