Multi-Method Learning in Soar
One of Soar's basic assumptions is that single, orthogonal mechanisms
can be employed to achieve specific functionality. This is true of
learning in Soar; chunking is the
only architecturally- supported learning mechanism. However, while
chunking is analogous to explanation-based learning at the level
of the architecture, other learning paradigms have been successfully
built on top of the basic Soar
architecture, utilizing both the chunking mechanism and the other
