Persistent Episodic Knowledge for Homer

Persistent Episodic Knowledge for Homer

In Homer, factual knowledge persists until a decision is made to "forget" or delete it. However, Homer's record of its experiences, maintained in episodic memory, is never forgotten, This results in a knowledge/speed tradeoff. Factual knowledge can be given a time frame during which it will be assumed to be true and after which it will be "terminated" from generic memory. If a persistant fact is found to be in conflict with a perceived or user-supplied fact then it will be terminated. Even when a fact is terminated it will be remembered as having once been true in episodic memory. When knowledge is modified, Homer will replan if necessary.
