Parallel Reasoning and Operation in the Adaptive Intelligent Systems Architecture

Parallel Reasoning and Operation in the Adaptive Intelligent Systems Architecture

AIS was designed to handle concurrent, asynchronous events occurring in the environment. Reasoning and sensing may therefore be done in parallel, with sensing done by the Asynchronous I/O Subsystem and reasoning proceeding serially. However, conceptually, the different reasoning processes might also be run in parallel based, in part, on the modular design of the architecture. However, cognitive processes are performed serially.
