Sensation and Selective Attention in the Adaptive Intelligent Systems Architecture
Sensation and Selective Attention in the Adaptive Intelligent Systems Architecture
Due to the vast amounts of data available in
the environment, an AIS must be able to avoid information overload by
paying attention to only the aspects with highest priority.
The Communications Interface (CI) is
directly responsible for handling the perceptors. It runs asynchronously, to handle asynchronous events in the environment. In
addition, there are preprocessors
which apply filters to the input,
enabling selective attention.
