Varying Priority for Adaptive Intelligent Systems Architectures

Varying Priority for Adaptive Intelligent Systems Architectures

Not all events represent the same degree of urgency in decision making. Considering Guardian's ICU domain, a slight drop in patient body temperature is not as important as a complete halt in breathing. It is important that the system be able to selectively attend to the most important environmental factors. In addition, when deciding how to respond to events, it is desirable that the system focus processing according to priority, increasing responsivity to high-priority events and degrading work on those of low-priority.
