Information Overload
for Adaptive Intelligent Systems Architectures
In domains like Guardian's ICU, there are vast amounts of observable data,
more than an agent can expect to absorb, even considering symbolic abstraction. In addition, the
system must be able to focus its attention to important aspects of the
environment. However, the agent must work continuously, so as not to miss any such
important data. Also, it must consider all relevant data when making its
decision, but the overload may exhaust computational resources. Instead, the system should process the
data incrementally, to keep up with the
data, while still gradually updating its behavior.
